"Week of Hope" Sunday

Sunday, July 6, 2008

Join the Heartland Community Crew this Sunday morning at 10:00 AM as Ron Blue and the Junior High Students attending this past week's mission trip in Cinncinnati share their experiences with the church. We'll be spending the week living in an old church in New Port, Kentucky and serving the Greater Cinncinati area by working in a community center, meal center, nursing home, and assisting local churches spruce up their places. You can expect pictures, video, funny and touching stories we experienced from the week. The theme for this year's mission trip is Love Out Loud and comes from 1 John 3:18, "Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other, let us show the truth with our actions." This is the first of two mission trips the Heartland Youth Group will be taking this summer. The second trip (for Senior High Students) will take place July 20-26th in Piqua, Ohio. Don't forget we have our 4th Annual Spaghetti Dinner/Dessert Auction scheduled for July 13th immediately after the main service in the cafeteria. All proceeds from this auction/dinner benefit the Mission Trip fund for both trips this summer. Do you like the graphic used in this mission trip announcement? Feel free to download a pdf version here. All artwork done by Tina Wagenr, youthworker for Heartland Community Church (thanks Tina!).

10:00 AM is our new service time for Heartland Community Church this summer. From now until Labor Day, Heartland will hold a single service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Programs for children ages infant through 5th grade will be available. Sunday morning events for Junior High students will take place on various dates throughout the summer.

E-Mail a Junior High Student on Their Mission Trip!

Want to encourage one of the students while they are on their mission trip in Cincinnati? Click this link and follow the prompts on the page. We are attending the Week of Hope in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 29 to July 4th. Every day we return from our job site we look on the "mail wall" to see if anyone has e-mailed us. Every year we attend a workcamp or week of hope trip our youth group gets more mail than anyone else there! Why? Because our church ROCKS!!! We look forward to coming back and sharing our stories! For the record, we are taking 15 total people on this trip. They include Ron, Janie, Tina, Sydney, Elisa, Ashley, Brent, Cole, Caleb, Delanie, Erin, Rachel, Jessica, Sammie, and Emily. Thanks guys!

L.O.L (18+) Newest Group in Heartland

This past Wednesday night, Heartland's newest small group L.O.L. (18+) , formerly the 20Somethings, had their second meeting of the summer at Justin Wehrley's home. We had a smashing good time playing volleyball, swimming in the pond and eating some Papa John's Pizza. Special thanks to Mrs. Wehrley for the ice cream and use of their house. Awesome times were had by all. Stay tuned for the next gathering of the LOL (18+) group. In case you were wondering, this is a group for High School Graduates, College Students, and working folks in their 20's (or so). Stay tuned for details about the next meeting. Call the church office if you have questions!

Hey Parents! Stay Updated on Youth Events!

In an attempt to keep parents of Heartland Youth updated on events Ron has created a blog. "What's a blog?" you might say? A blog is nothing more than an online "bulletin board" with thoughts, comments, insight and announcements posted by our youth pastor Ron Blue. We currently have entries on Keep It Clean, Mother's Day, Summer Schedule, Prince Caspian, and Why we take May off. Give it a whirl and log on now to see what's going on in your kid's youth group! Posts will be updated 1-3 times a week so check back frequently! Ron's mind is a scary place to be sometimes, come see why...
